| Location: South Jordan,UT, Member Since: Jul 25, 2009 Gender: Female Goal Type: Other Short-Term Running Goals: My short term goals are simple for now...I just want to get back into a consistent running routine. My focus is not directed toward distance, speed, or racing. My primary focus is motivation, consistency, endurance, and education on running in general.
My health and exercise goals for July-August
- run 4-5 days a week.
- read up on breathing while running (assuming there are do's and don’ts) + other running education
- weight training, 3 days a week
- update my progress on the fast running blog so my sister-in-law can keep me in check.
Long-Term Running Goals: I want to run a half marathon as well as a marathon. That goal seems far away… but I’ve got to start somewhere. Personal: I am married to a great guy, his name is Bam (It’s really Brandon, but he is a drummer and has gone by Bam since he was a kid.) We live in Daybreak, UT with our 3 awesome kids.
Our youngest will be 8 in October, and he is a natural at every sport he’s involved with. Which is about every sport. Currently he sports a Mohawk, and thinks he’s pretty cool. He’s right, he is cool, and he has a funny laugh that makes you laugh just listening to it.
Our middle kid’o turned 8 in April, and she will be in 3rd grade this year. She is tall and beautiful! She loves tumbling, and playing outside with her friends, and brothers. She loves to watch the Discovery channel, and loves learning anything she can about animals.
Our oldest son will be 10 in October. He is a great basketball, and soccer player. This will be his first year in football, and I am nervous for him (he is a tall, very skinny, good looking kid) but we will see how it goes. Our oldest is defiantly the “gamer” and the only one we have to give time limits to when it comes to videogames.
My husband is a heavy rescue firefighter paramedic. When he’s not working he is probably on a mountain somewhere. Bam loves mountain biking, and does long technical stuff that I don’t get involved with. He has been a big motivator for me to get back into running, and exercising in general. Bam is always the life of the party, he sings, plays the guitar, and is really fun to be around. He is not just my husband but truly my best friend.
I run a furniture store in the downtown Salt Lake area, which is a full time job. I love architecture, design, furniture, hats, jeans, and being outside. I went back to school a year ago and I am on track for a bachelor’s degree in health science (nursing). School and work take up a lot of my time. However, my favorite thing to do is just hang with my family.
Even though I am an active person I feel like I’m starting at the beginning as far as being in shape and running go. I’m excited for the day when I don’t feel like that anymore.

rode the stationary bike for 25min (5 miles), and did abs.
| |
no run today...I unloaded a 76ft container of furniture (work) it took over 3 hours and it had to have been 113 degrees inside that thing... Im beat! |
| | 10:24 min/mile, night run nice and cool. |
| |
Its HOT out 94!!, 2pm, 2miles 9:30min/mile
I'm going to stick to my morning or night runs...at least I went...
Ab workout, also we got the P90X CDs I'm going to hook up a TV in our basement and test drive that craze to see if I can hang.
| |
Its been cool the last few days which has been nice! Rode the bike about 8 miles and did abs.
|
| | longest run I have done so far... my husband came with me (he was on his bike). I ran closer to 5 miles but my runkeeper switched off twice, bummer! Figure I'll just count the miles I could trak. I must have been bit by something around the lake while running because when we got home I was covered in hives, and my eyes got all puffy. Thankfully it was my day off...now I'm just wondering what got to me on my run. | |
| |
Ran while my daughter was in her tumbling class... had to cut my run short by 1 mile, but no crazy hives or allergies after todays run which was a bonus. Also, I didnt get my basement set up for my P90X dvds. I guess Ill try and get that done this week.
I'm starting to feel better during my runs, and even though its only been a couple weeks of running on a regular basis...I can feel the need to run instead of making myself go. This is an exciting feeling!
| |
Took work off today which I rarely do. Stomach flu of some sort…no run is happening today.
| | feeling a bit better today, so i went to work...going to run Friday... I'm glad I got sick on the days I tend not to run anyway, convenient. | |
| |
I was smiling while I ran today. I can tell that running is becoming something I no longer feel like I force myself to do. It’s becoming routine… slowly but surely. My left foot has been giving me problems for a few days now( Mainly in the arch of my foot) I have appropriate insoles for my shoes so I am really counting on this pain in my foot to be short lived, and I’ll look into it more if it does not go away by next week. |
| | So so hot out today... My kids came with me on (they rode bikes). |
| | Ran while Halle was in her tumbling class...all 4 miles were under ten min. Thats a first!! | |
| |
Realizing it may not be the arch of my foot that’s bothering me… hu. Guess I’ll look into but I don’t want to let a minor amount of “beginners running pain” get in the way of my consistence. Ate a bunch of bugs tonight on my run which means I may be breathing to hard (had my mouth open while running by the lake) …better go get some of those runners’ education books. |
| |
Its official my ankle is swollen…DARN… maybe I just need to invest in some better running shoes??? I only inhaled one gnat tonight as I have decided running around a lake in the evening is not the best idea, but beautiful none the less. |

Wow, felt like a long run today...maybe that was due to the busy route I chose. When I got home my GPS told me I had gone 46 miles!! Not bad for a newbe runner I thought to myself, but had to laugh at my runkeepers technical difficulties. So, I went back and traced my run the best I could with my car.
My mile pace is hovering just under 10min/mile. Also, I am battling ankle pain still but have decided to get a new pair of shoes in the coming week. I'm sure the purchase of better shoes will solve the small problem I'm having with my foot.
|
| | 10min/miles, and I'm listening to the Kings Of Leon this band is now my new running companion (love it). | |
| | 10 min/mile almost on the dot still... The weather was overcast and it really felt nice to run. Not cool enough to chill my skin, not warm enough to make me feel stuffy and uncomfortable. |
| |
school started again today! I dont get home till about nine, so looks like I'll have to do early morning runs or late runs. I have not been able to get up at five like I would like to do... not that the efforts not there...So, I'm sure I can blast out an early morning run soon. |

I am defiantly allergic to something in my neighborhood. I got back from my run and immediately I could feel my nasal passages swelling shut all the way to the back of my throat, and I was covered in hives. Also my eyes were itching like crazy, my right one almost completely swollen shut! I’m going to look on my GPS and see if I can single out a street or area taking into account the route I took the last time this happened. So very strange this is… |

I saw a white van driving to work friday morning and it had a large "fastrunningblog" magnet on it...cool
Todays run was hot!! felt like 5 miles not 2.6 however, I ran 9min miles...
| | real late run tonight! I have taken 3 days off this week...I dont llike that. | |
| | did a new route today with lots of hills, I need to get some reflective gear for night, and I'm wondering what works best. I was half way through a crosswalk and a car decided to turn right (to impatient for the light I guess) anyway he almost hit me. I should try and run while its light out, but with 3 kids, work, and school myself sometimes I can only get in a night run. (I also try and stay off the roads sticking to the trails) anyway lots of rambling today... |
| |
bought my twilight movie tickets tonight! haha |
| | 9.5min mile , better than my old ten's |
| |
wow, I ran an 8.53 min/mile avarage tonight...which is a first for me. Also ran in the rain.
under a 9min/mile "check"
running in inclement weather "check"
haha | |
| | another long run!!! I know I could have gone 6...next time | |
| | Its monday the 28 and I am just getting around to entering my run I did on the 23rd!! I got an arm band for my iphone. I cant believe how nice it is to run with the arm band. I also noticed my running times have improved a ton. I'm maintaining an avarage of 8.56 min/mile for the majority of my run... I have had a real nasty cold/flu and it has put me out the last 5 days (inc.today). I'm going to Moab on wed and I was hoping to get some nice runs in down there, so I hope I can kick this thing before I head down. | |
| | ran around HighLine lake in CO. Im still real sick...Bummer... |
| | just getting back to it after being sick for so long! I only had about 25min between getting home from work and running my kids to sports...short run! |
| | did abs and free weights today... I ran the last week in October, but didnt log my miles, as I have started running in the gym instead of out doors...not as nice I must add. I was really sick through november, and every time I thought I would get back into my groove it only made things worse. So, no running today but its nice to get back to something, right? | |
