Short-Term Running Goals:

My short term goals are simple for now...I just want to get back into a consistent running routine. My focus is not directed toward distance, speed, or racing. My primary focus is motivation, consistency, endurance, and education on running in general.

My health and exercise goals for July-August

  • run 4-5 days a week.
  • read up on breathing while running (assuming there are do's and don’ts) + other running education
  • weight training, 3 days a week
  • update my progress on the fast running blog so my sister-in-law can keep me in check.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to run a half marathon as well as a marathon.  That goal seems far away… but I’ve got to start somewhere.

Personal:

I am married to a great guy, his name is Bam (It’s really Brandon, but he is a drummer and has gone by Bam since he was a kid.) We live in Daybreak, UT with our 3 awesome kids.

Our youngest will be 8 in October, and he is a natural at every sport he’s involved with. Which is about every sport. Currently he sports a Mohawk, and thinks he’s pretty cool. He’s right, he is cool, and he has a funny laugh that makes you laugh just listening to it.

Our middle kid’o turned 8 in April, and she will be in 3rd grade this year. She is tall and beautiful! She loves tumbling, and playing outside with her friends, and brothers. She loves to watch the Discovery channel, and loves learning anything she can about animals.

Our oldest son will be 10 in October. He is a great basketball, and soccer player. This will be his first year in football, and I am nervous for him (he is a tall, very skinny, good looking kid) but we will see how it goes. Our oldest is defiantly the “gamer” and the only one we have to give time limits to when it comes to videogames.

My husband is a heavy rescue firefighter paramedic. When he’s not working he is probably on a mountain somewhere. Bam loves mountain biking, and does long technical stuff that I don’t get involved with. He has been a big motivator for me to get back into running, and exercising in general. Bam is always the life of the party, he sings, plays the guitar, and is really fun to be around. He is not just my husband but truly my best friend.

I run a furniture store in the downtown Salt Lake area, which is a full time job. I love architecture, design, furniture, hats, jeans, and being outside. I went back to school a year ago and I am on track for a bachelor’s degree in health science (nursing).  School and work take up a lot of my time. However, my favorite thing to do is just hang with my family.

Even though I am an active person I feel like I’m starting at the beginning as far as being in shape and running go. I’m excited for the day when I don’t feel like that anymore.

thanks! My goals are really coming along,I have been surprised by myself a little to be honest. I'm still so young to running (and the blog) that sometimes I feel silly entering in my low miles. I have been doing a lot of reading online, and I have been doing abs which I always forget to mention in my posts. Its almost time to reevaluate my goals...cant wait. Hey thanks a lot for asking!

A mile is a mile, they all count! And ab work is apparently very important to running, something I just learned myself. I hate working my abs because I can not see them so why bother???

where do you meet?

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 24, 2009 at 19:57:25 from 71.219.64.200

Different places every time...Bingham high school, random churches throughout S Jordan and Riverton, the JRP, and others. I have not gone in so long due to injury that I can not remember!!! We meet at 5:30 for 3 easy miles, then do a workout for an hour (speedwork, hills, tempo runs, whatever) then another 2-3 easy miles. You can come for all or part of it. Not many stay for the last part, about half come for the first part. But during the main workout there are as many as 15-20 people. We may be switching the start ime to 5:15 now that school has started.
